Sites Hosted by Individuals
- The CDAI (Crohn's
Disease Activity Index) Calculator can be used to keep track of your
condition from week to week. It's often used to quantify severity of
disease for clinical research testing.
- Liz Parrott hosts the Health
Care Problems site, for collecting peoples' experiences of problems
with the U.S. health care system. Patients, medical and insurance
professionals, HR people and employers, and legal professionals, are all
encouraged to contribute their stories.
- Ben is hosting IBD Answers, an
active community for IBD patients, with news updates and articles about
IBD.
- Sophie Lee is hosting IBS Tales, where
you can read the personal experiences of irritable bowel syndrome
sufferers and share your own story. There's a discussion area, too.
- Tom Robinson, who has Crohn's Disease himself, provides
Life Coaching for People with
Chronic Illness. He gives them the support and encouragement they
often need (and deserve) to meet the challenges of their illness and have
higher quality, more fulfilling lives.
- Dr. Paul McMurrick FRACS is a colorectal surgeon in Melbourne,
Australia. He's got a web site at
www.colorectal.com.au. He was
trained at the Mayo Clinic.
- Steve Hudson has published a UK CD/UC Contacts page with
the usual info and links about IBD and contact information about folks in
the UK with IBD.
- Lucy Shriver runs The Gluten Free
Kitchen and Club Celiac
(a childrens' site). Both of these deal with Celiac Sprue, a
gluten-intolerance condition.
- The Irritable Bowel Self-Help
Group is alive and well. It seems their
link got erased from my pages some time. It's maintained by Jeffrey
Roberts, and has lots of good stuff for IBS sufferers.
- A new Crohn's
Page in Sweden run by Sandra is just beginning. It's in
English.
- The IBD Page
page is run by Steve Holland, M.D. He's a researcher and physician at the
University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, and contributes
regularly to the IBDList and the alt.support.crohns-colitis newsgroup.
Steve has participated in a study of the use of
Heparin
in Ulcerative
Colitis.
- Peter Waite's the
IBD Bookstore includes book
reviews & abstracts on Crohn's, IBD, and chronic illness.
- The J-Pouch Group
is a site run by Bill Johnson. He concentrates on issues around the
ileoanal anastomosis surgery.
- Scott Adams hosts the Celiac Support
Page,
providing "people who have Celiac Disease (aka
Gluten Intolerance) ... with a means of figuring out
what their problem is, and ... lead more comfortable and healthy lives."
Scott has greatly enhanced this page since I first looked at it and listed
it here. He also hosts a mailing list for Celiac Disease. You can find
info on it here.
